CSLP Program 2026 Has Been Updated for the July 1, 2026 Regulatory Changes
We are pleased to announce that the CSLP program has been updated to reflect the RISE regulations and SAVE settlement changes that will be in force beginning July 1, 2026.
These updates are significant. Student loan advising is entering a new phase, with major changes affecting repayment plan availability, borrower transition rules, forgiveness credit, PSLF planning, consolidation decisions, tax-filing strategy, and the way advisors evaluate repayment options for borrowers.
Because of the scope of these changes, it is important for both current students and existing CSLP™ professionals to spend time with the updated material.
Program Access for existing CSLP professionals
Existing professionals with an active CSLP™ credential will have access to the updated course material. We strongly encourage all to review the new content and use it to update their advising processes, client-facing recommendations, and internal workflows.
Many of the prior assumptions used in student loan planning will need to be revisited under the new rules.
The updated material is designed to help financial professionals understand how the new regulations apply in real borrower situations and how to adapt their advice accordingly.
What this means for currently enrolled students
Students who are currently enrolled see the new program in the learning program by July 1. This is a phased approach. Active members of the CSLP program will have the new program in their learning portal by July 10 or sooner. At the time of the move, all existing courses will be removed. oved to the new material in phases between July 8 and July 15.
What if I’ve not taken the CSLP Exam but enrolled in the last six months?
If you are in the actively enrolled but have not certified, you will be granted an additional 3 months to certify but you must submit a support request to receive the extension. If your membership has lapsed, you will need to pay any late fees due to access the new program content. If your membership has lapsed for more than 180 days, contact us through support to discuss your options.
